2013 Luminous Hills Estate Grown Pinot Noir Yamhill-Carlton Oregon

I had the chance to meet the winemaker a few years back and have become a huge fan of his wines since that day. Luminous Hills Wines show the character of the vineyard with balanced flavors, aroma's which depict the unique climate and soil along with concentrated ripe fruit. There is this regal elegance in ever barrel that Byron produces.

The Luminous Hills vineyards are located in the southwest corner of the Yanhill-Carlton district. The elevation of the vineyard is rather high but you will find both typical sedimentary soils along with Jory volcanic soil. These distinct soils along with the careful nurturing of various pinot clones lends to the complex and mature wines we love that Mr. Dooley creates. Yields are managed so that the limited yet most intense perfect fruit can be harvested.

The nose tonight shows nicely with dark rich cherry, fresh pine needles along with dried herbs, cola and cinnamon. Allow the wine to open and hints of smokey oak and blue fruit clusters circle the senses. Each swirl paints a vineyard picture from which this juice was born.

The mouth oh yea with juicy ripe cherry, tart cranberry, a splash of blue fruit  followed by a hint of herbs, forest and oak. The finish is long and lush as it rolls across the tongue with layers of fruit intertwined. A wonderful expression of Pinot Noir Byron!

Cheers
